How to Use the WordPress.com AI Website Builder (Step-by-Step Tutorial)

If you've ever built a site before, especially a WordPress website, you would know how time-consuming and energy draining it could be. Even if you're using a WordPress theme, you could still spend weeks creating your website.

But that's all changed now because of the WordPress.com AI website builder. So, now you're getting a super AI website builder with WordPress foundation.

In this tutorial, I'm going to be building a simple SaaS company website in under 10 minutes. Let’s imagine we’re creating a fictional keyword research tool similar to SEO platforms like RankIQ.

Our website will include:

  • A homepage explaining the tool
  • A features page
  • An about page
  • A contact page
  • Call-to-action buttons encouraging visitors to sign up

Follow the steps below and you’ll see how quickly a website can come together.

Step 1: Go to WordPress.com AI Website Builder Page

WordPress.com AI website builder

First, go to WordPress.com AI website builder page were you will generate a complete website simply by describing what you want.

Instead of selecting templates manually, you’ll provide a prompt explaining the type of website you’re creating.

Step 2: Describe the SaaS Website You Want to Build

Now I’ll tell the AI what kind of website we want. Since this tutorial focuses on a SaaS keyword research tool, our prompt should describe the product, audience, and pages we need.

Here’s the prompt I’ll use:

“Create a modern SaaS website for a keyword research tool that helps bloggers, content creators, and marketers find profitable keywords and improve their SEO rankings. The website should clearly explain what the tool does and highlight its main features. Include a homepage with a product overview, a features page explaining the tool’s capabilities, an about page describing the company, and a contact page for support inquiries. Add clear call-to-action buttons encouraging visitors to sign up for the tool. The design should feel modern, clean, and technology-focused.”

WordPress.com AI website builder tutorial

Once I submitted the prompt, it asked me a few more questions to get more details about my site, so I shared more information.

Then the AI started generating my website.

Within a few moments, my website was completely built.

Step 3: Review the AI-Generated Website

The WordPress.com AI website builder will generate a full layout based on your prompt. Your homepage will likely include sections such as:

  • A hero section introducing the keyword tool
  • A short product explanation
  • Feature highlights
  • A section explaining how the tool helps users
  • Sign-up call-to-action buttons

You’ll also see additional pages already created, including:

  • Features
  • About
  • Contact

Think of this as the first draft of your website. Here's what the AI gave me:

The website is quite okay but remember this is just our starting point. Now it's time to refine it.

Step 4: Customize the Homepage

Refining WordPress.com site

The homepage is the most important part of your SaaS website because it explains your product and convinces visitors to try it.

There are two ways to edit the website I just created. One, using the AI tool by the lefthand side on WordPress.com web builder and, two, manually editing it myself. I decided to make use of WordPress AI. I told it to change the navigation bar style to horizontal and the colors to blue and white along with some other things like the page layout and contact page.

I selected a few color combinations the AI gave me for my website appearance. This is what the AI gave me:

Since I asked the AI to change the page layout, it also gave me another option which I liked better, but I still needed to change a few more things:

I went on to edit the headline to “Get Powerful keyword insights.” And I add a short description explaining the product. “We help bloggers, content creators, and marketers find profitable keywords and improve their SEO rankings.”

Note: Make sure your homepage includes clear call-to-action buttons like Start Free Trial or Try the Keyword Tool or even Sign Up Now. These buttons should appear in multiple places across the page, so visitors always know what action to take.

I'll show you my final result as we move forward.

Step 5: Improve the Design

You can always refine the visual style of your website. Like colors, typography, layout spacing and section styles.

Common design choices for SaaS companies include:

  • White backgrounds
  • Bold headlines
  • Blue or purple accent colors
  • Rounded buttons
  • Minimal layouts

These styles help the website feel modern and technology-focused.

Your WordPress manual editor should look like this.

As you can see in the screenshot below, you can easily edit your website head section. From your navigation links to site logo to site title, CTA buttons and more.

I ended up changing the image on website to something better. As you can see in the image below, you can add alt text to the images on your website to help improve your sites SEO. You can also get access to free stock photos for your website from Pexels directly on your dashboard.

Step 6: Edit the Other Pages

The About page gives visitors context about the company behind the product.

Even if your SaaS company is fictional for this tutorial, it’s useful to include a believable story.

For example, you might write something like:

Our company was created to simplify keyword research for bloggers and small businesses. Many SEO tools are powerful but complicated. We built this platform to make keyword discovery faster and easier.

You could also include information about the mission of the product. For example:

Our mission is to help creators grow their websites by finding keywords that actually rank.

This type of messaging builds credibility and trust.

Go ahead to edit your Features Page which explains what your SaaS tool actually does. The AI builder may already generate a few sections, but you can refine them to match your fictional product.

Each feature should include:

  • A short headline
  • A simple explanation
  • Optional icons or visuals

The goal is to make it easy for visitors to quickly understand the benefits of the tool.

Your Contact page allows visitors to reach you if they have questions about the product. The AI builder usually adds a simple contact form automatically.

You can also include:

  • Support email address
  • Business contact information
  • Links to social media profiles

For SaaS products, it’s common to label this page “Contact” or “Support.” Make sure it’s easy for users to ask questions.

Step 7: Add Your Domain Name

Before launching your site, you’ll want to connect a domain name. This is the web address visitors will use to access your website. For example, your SaaS tool might use a domain like keywordgenius.com.

WordPress.com allows you to purchase and connect domains directly from the platform. Using your own domain makes the website look far more professional. Don't have one? WordPress.com will provide you with a free subdomain (something like yourname.wordpress.com) so you can get started right away.

Step 8: Publish Your Website

Once you’re happy with the design and content, you can publish your website by clicking the launch button.

Publishing your WordPress.com website

With a single click, your SaaS website will go live. Visitors will now be able to explore:

  • Your homepage
  • The features page
  • Your about page
  • Your contact page

And most importantly, they’ll see clear sign-up call-to-action buttons encouraging them to try your product.

Final Website Result

Here is the final result:

Final result from WordPress.com AI website builder

As you can see, I changed the images and edited the texts manually, everything took me about 10 minutes to complete. The WordPress.com AI builder is meant to be your foundation of which can build upon. It's a very strong foundation and what makes it unique is that it's a WordPress site.

This makes it one of the fastest ways for founders, creators, and small businesses to launch a professional website.

In this tutorial, we used the WordPress.com AI website builder to create a simple SaaS website for a keyword research tool. The result is a modern SaaS website with clear messaging and sign-up calls to action.

If you're building a startup, launching a product, or testing a new idea, tools like this make it incredibly easy to get a professional website online quickly. And the best part is that once your site is live, you can continue expanding it by adding blog posts, new features pages, and marketing content as your product grows.
